New Delhi: The Central Executive Committee of the Students’ Federation of India has given a call to all its units to observe a “Festival of Resistance” in full power from the 11th to the 26th of this month. The festival will start with a massive satyagraha against NEP on Nov 11 and will be followed by picketing and leaflet distribution to protest against the New Education Policy (NEP) and NEET at railway stations and bus stands on 13 Nov.

Nov 14 children’s day will be observed as Save Anganwadi Day and SFI plans to stage a massive protest against NEP in front of Central Government offices on 15 Nov. SFI believes that integrating anganwadis with government schools under the NEP will limit the access for children from rural and tribal areas. Furthermore, 19-26 Nov will be observed as anniversary of the farmers’ struggle as part of the Festival of Resistance.

Mayukh Biswas, the general secretary of SFI has appealed to the student community to join the nationwide Festival of Resistance. “Let’s take oath to resist anti-student National Education Policy (NEP) and National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET). The NEP and NEET stand against everything that we as a progressive society believe in and it has to be opposed at any cost. The current BJP regime has been intolerant to dissenting voices .But to protect public education from the fascist and neoliberal onslaught , it is the need of the hour that our unified voices must resound in their ears, forcing them to take heed of our demands”, he added.
