Struggles

“You said the sun would rise. Let’s go Along those unmapped paths to free the green alligator you love”

These lines by the revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevara in “Song For Fidel” embody the vision of the Cuban Revolution, instilling a profound hope that better days will come, and their nation will be freed from all forms of suppression. India is currently facing multifaceted attacks under the dictatorship of Narendra Modi, backed by a communal-corporate nexus. It is the duty of all citizens to protect and protest for the nation. The three rallies organized by the United Students of India platform have been historic student movements of this decade. The streets of Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata were filled with protests and slogans. “Save Education and Save India” became the rallying cry. This movement has opened a new phase of struggle to challenge and ultimately dismantle the Modi regime. In all three protest centers, Modi and his authorities sought to dismantle and block the movement. In Delhi, central forces were deployed to stifle the protests. Yet, the United Students of India marched forward, with students across the nation echoing the slogans “Save India, Reject BJP” and “Save Education, Reject NEP.” The Modi regime not only used central forces but also university administrations to take action against several student leaders and participants. Our editorial board strongly condemns these actions. Ramdas Prini Sivanandan, a PhD scholar at TISS and leader of the Progressive Students’ Forum (P.S.F), has been suspended and debarred for two years. The charges leading to his debarring include his participation in the Parliament March on January 12, 2024, and the alleged offense of encouraging others to watch the documentary “Ram Ki Nam.” These actions represent a direct attack on the fundamental rights of students and citizens to protest and express dissent. The Sangh Parivar’s communal-corporate nexus has continuously interfered with our Constitution, secularism, democracy, beliefs, education, and all aspects of our lives for the past 10 years. We appeal to all citizens to Interfere in Politics! Otherwise, this regime will dismantle our nation. In the upcoming 18 th Lok Sabha elections, we must reclaim India from this communal dictatorship. A strong left presence in Parliament is essential to safeguard the interests of the people, uphold secularism, and defend the principles enshrined in our Constitution.

The sangh parivaar is running schools in tribal areas, where students are taught communalism, manusmriti etc.. These innocent tribals are getting into their trap. The left should do something to counter this. I believe the students and other people following the left ideology, should also set up mobile schools in tribal areas and every member should atleast give a month to teach tribals the ideas and values of democracy, socialism, secularism and the indian Constitution.
