SFI Extends Support to Writer Arundhati Roy, Condemns the UAPA Charge.

In statement issued today, the Student Federation of India (SFI) expressed solidarity with renowned writer Arundhati Roy and condemned the decision of the Delhi Lieutenant Governor to prosecute her under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The SFI characterized this move as part of the Sangh Parivar machinery’s ongoing efforts to silence dissent and curb freedom of expression.

The SFI’s statement highlighted concerns over the BJP government’s “fascistic tendencies” and emphasized the need to withdraw the action against Arundhati Roy. According to the SFI, such actions by the government are reflective of attempts to suppress opposition voices within the country.

The SFI’s stance underscores growing concerns among various quarters regarding the state of civil liberties and freedom of speech in India.
