After the declaration of NEET-UG exam results on June 4, several complaints are coming to the fore, questioning the transparency of NTA’s examination conduct. This has happened as a continuation of the grave misconducts of important exams since the NTA was brought in. As a result, it is once again proved that such a centralised NTA is incompetent and unqualified to conduct the entrance.
Total Marks in MBBS-BDS Graduate Level Entrance Test is 720. 4 marks are awarded for every correct answer, while 1 mark is deducted from the total for every incorrect answer, while unanswered questions are left unmarked. In that case, it is not mathematically possible to get marks like 719 and 718. But such cases have been seen in multiple results. NTA has casually said in a statement that this year’s result is for grace marking. But there is no mention of this grace marking scheme anywhere in the guidelines published by NTA before the exam this year.
Besides, there have been complaints that students with consecutive roll numbers from the same center have got the same marks, incidentally 720 out of 720. Candidates are henceforth being forced to take admission in private colleges because of this severe inflation in ranks, which is directly because of NTA’s policies such as a marked reduction in syllabus. The way in which NMC and NTA are jointly privatizing medical education under the Modi government is dangerous for the future of the country. There was an argument of endless corruption for changing the state-based joint entrance examination system in the medical field, now this allegation is also coming forward with regard to NEET-UG.
The Students’ Federation of India is demands an immediate transparent and impartial investigation into the incident. We demand to scrap the NTA and enquire all its scams till date. SFI also calls upon the student community throught the country to join hands against the centralisation of education through NTA.
